Why Puerto Rico have the Second longest Christmas in the world? The First are the Filipinas. But we always said we have the longest I think most of Puerto Ricans don't know we are number two on the list.
My answer is maybe that Puerto Ricans love family traditions and having family quality time is very important in Puerto Rico. In our culture people tent to not distance from family so we end up making traditions. And Christmas is that time that we party and gather to see all the family eating, talking and playing with our cousins.
The Puerto Rico Christmas Calendar goes like this...
*November Celebrating Thanksgiving & Christmas Tree is up!
*December Take out the Fall decor and put all the Christmas decor Inside and *Outside the house.
*December 24 Holiday Party & December 25 Christmas Gathering.
*Celebration of the End of the Year and Welcome the New Years. 31 December & 1 January.
*Celebration on Three Kings Days on January 6.
*Octavitas following January 6, count 8 days those days after January 6 are the octavitas. This is more in the Central Mountain Puerto Rico have lost this celebration with the years.

When Octavitas ends Start the Celebration of *SANSE a traditional handcraft festival the biggest on the Island in Old San Juan.
When SANSE ends Christmas is Over in Puerto Rico.
Some people take the Three King Day and make a Promise to baby Jesus for a particular reason like this house. The woman and owner of the house have cancer and make a promise on January 6 she got heal and now she opens his home for all the people that wants to see her house inside and out. And a promise to Jesus it's so important she do it every year with love. I finally visit her house give her a cookie that I made, and I did a video from this house.
If you are looking to spend Christmas in Puerto Rico I recommend you stay in a Hotel that has activities and food that will make your Christmas day as much Puerto Rican. Listen to the Jíbaro Traditional Music try Typical Food and have a fun day at the pool. Make memories and enjoy the day!
I will add to the occasion a mini tree from the Dollar Store and decor it in your room with lights. You can leave it when you are gone, on Christmas morning have breakfast in the room and open presents. Take pictures with the hotel Christmas Tree and jump into the pool.
At night you can go to Old San Juan and walk the city at night to see all the Christmas decor! Every Public Plaza have decor, but some have beautiful big decorations like the town of Fajardo.
