La Parguera, Lajas Puerto Rico. Visit Mata La Gata, Playa Rosada & have fun in this party town at night by Sylvette Travels

Hello and thank you for reading my blog!

You are here because you want to know all about Parguera. I have been so many times in Parguera that you are in the right blog post.

Lajas, Parguera is in the South / West from Puerto Rico and is one of the jewels from the Island. It has many restaurants and mini hotels some good others not to good. Parguera is a Fishing town and a Camper ground. Read my Blog for all the info about this Summertime Town!

PARGUERA A SUMMERTOWN & PARTY TOWN

In Puerto Rico summertime is all year round so Parguera is always full of people some months are not too busy but in summer is their peak season.

I recommend you see my Youtube Videos about Parguera.

These three Puerto Rico Flags represent three different meanings. The Golden Flag represent the Olympic Gold Medal in Tennis Monica Puig back in 2016.

The black and white flag represent the resistant and hope. And our Puerto Rico flag this one on the wall represent the Independence from Spain it has a soft blue on the triangle.

When Puerto Rico became part of the Commonwealth, they change the blue color to a dark blue to have a similarity to the USA color flag. Hector Collazo from the 78 pueblos paint this wall and the others 77 around Puerto Rico.

Parguera is a Fishing town, boating, marina, campers, restaurants, hotels, gifts shops, party town, summer town, vacation town, scuba dive, kayaking and more...

If I have to say something bad about Lajas, Parguera will be the earthquakes and some fires because of the heat.

WHERE TO ENTER AND SEE THE VIEWPOINT

How to enter Parguera?

There are 2 ways, and this is the one from the two entrances.  The photo up is the main entrance you can go directly, or you can go to the Left at this point as you see in the photo.

If you ask me witch one?

I will choose the one on the left you can see there the Viewpoint and you can see Caracoles, Mata La Gata and other Cays. Also, that is the entrance for the Marina, Campers and Playa Rosada Beach. From there you can drive some streets with the help of the GPS to reenter Parguera because is a one way in and out.

This is the view from the viewpoint you can see the Cays.

WHAT TO DO IN PARGUERA

In Parguera you can rent a boat or pay a taxi boat to take you to Mata La Gata. If you want to go to Caracoles you will have to rent a boat or a kayak there are some taxi boats that can take you there but it's not safe you don't have a place to put your belongings and you have to be in the water all the time.

Mata La Gata by the way the meaning is Kill the Cat it was name like that because of a shark name Nurse Shark Grove that always sleeps in this Cay.

So, this Cay it's much better the community of Parguera took care because the Nature Reserve allegedly doesn't seem to care to repair and open the facility's that's what the community have told me that they are the ones that took care of Mata La Gata and Playa Rosada also another Reserve that is closed since 2017 Hurricane Maria destroy the beach areas and today 2023 it still closed.

There are no bathrooms in Mata La Gata only tables and a board walk. The taxi boat leaves you there and you can bring food, chairs and whatever you need bring.

Important News: 2024
Mata La Gata is also closed to public it was destroy by Hurricane Fiona 2022. Also, Playa Rosada is closed since 2017.

So, if you ask what beach people have?

Nothing, Caracoles it's not safe if you don't have a boat or kayak.

Stay tune on this blog post and my Youtube Channel and Social Pages to tell you when the beaches are open in Parguera.

The Night Life!

The best time is at Night at Day people go more for the Cays.

Sangria Coño a classic drink in Parguera you can find it at El Karacol.

The word Coño is a bad word in Puerto Rico.

The banner says, Coño wake up Boricua "Puertorricans" and defend what is yours.

This is more from the independent movement from the Island.

Turtle Bay Inn is a mini Parador /Hotel its walking distance from Parguera.
